There are a wide range of specialist cowls and bird guards on the market designed to help rectify numerous different problems. Our team are vastly experienced in choosing and fitting the correct one for your flue's (chimney) needs.
We will always use the cost effective access solution for fitting, in a lot of cases this will simply be a ladder, however a cherry picker or scaffolding maybe required.
Bird nest removal
With warmth and shelter, birds love setting up home in chimneys. Unfortunately this can lead to carbon monoxide poisoning, chimney fires, dangerous blockages and infestations. There are restrictions when nests can be removed, however some exceptions can be made to this is if is your only source of heating or hot water supply. Nesting season is mid March until August or when the chicks have fledged.
Ways to spot that birds could be nesting in your chimney include: feathers, twigs, debris or bird droppings falling into your fireplace or stove, the very obvious sound of birds tweeting or chirping.
It may seem cruel to clear your chimney of nests and pests, but they can lead to blockages in the chimney, fires and health issues - and this can lead to carbon monoxide poisoning. At Capel Chimney Sweeps we regularly clear out nests for our clients, helping them to maintain a clear chimney. We have a variety of specialist birds nest removal tools which work efficiently to remove the problematic nest as part of the process of removing a nest a CCTV inspection will be required to make sure all debris nest materials are removed.
After removal of a nest, we can install the appropriate bird guard to discourage further nesting.
Co Alarm Installation
The importance of carbon monoxide detection can not be stressed highly enough, it is a potentially life threatening risk. It is also something checked when providing a certificate, which insurance companies will want to see.
